A pink silk dress with draped skirt and wide emerald green sash, covered by an intricate lace bodice and overskirt.

Evening Dress

c. 1913 | Canadian, silk and cotton

The dress has a draped skirt and wide sash reminiscent of the Japanese kimono and obi. The lace bodice and overskirt imitate the tunic traditionally worn in Eastern Mediterranean countries.

This dress originally belonged to Violet Murray, a Vancouver school teacher living in the West End of the city.
