Vivienne Westwood and her partner Malcolm McLaren were the driving force behind punk fashion in London in the 1970s. Their styles were urban and tough and included influences of 1950s biker styles, mixed with the absurdity of unnaturally coloured hair, startling face make-up, piercings and tattoos. Malcolm McLaren was the manager of the punk band the Sex Pistols.
